At Nottingham English School we understand how important it is to have somewhere suitable to live when you are studying overseas.  We can help you find accommodation that suits your needs.

What is Homestay?

Perhaps the best way to learn about life here in the UK and be able to practice your English is to live with a British family in Homestay accommodation.  You stay with an approved host at their home in the Nottingham area.

Homestay is very popular with our international students; whether they are planning to study for just a few weeks or up to a whole year.

Who are Homestay hosts?

Our hosts have a wide range of experience and backgrounds.  Many have been hosting international students for several years.  Our accommodation officer visits each home and monitors hosts to make sure that our high standards of safety, cleanliness and security are maintained.

Homestay Costs

£120 for full catering (£125 for 16 & 17 year olds)

£80 self catering

£25 admin charge

A deposit of one week’s rent is due on the day of arrival.  This is paid to your host to cover costs of replacing keys, damage to property or unpaid rent.

What You Can Expect

  • A private single bedroom
  • Suitable bed, bedding and storage space
  • Lighting and heating
  • Access to toilet, washbasin and private bath or shower facilities
  • Suitable and regular meals (full-catering)
  • Access to a kitchen (self-catering)
  • Telephone to allow incoming calls at reasonable times
  • Laundry arrangements

As we will do our best to match a suitable host for your particular lifestyle, Homestay must be arranged before you arrive in Nottingham.

If Homestay is what you want, you should complete an application form and return it to Nottingham English School.

Student halls

Although Nottingham English School does not have its own halls of residence, Nottingham has lots of purpose-built residential student accommodation run by private companies. We have information on some of these, but cannot make bookings for you.

You can get details of vacancies, prices and download an application form from their websites. The ones in the city centre are very popular and fill up quickly.

When you are comparing prices, check the contract period - the number of weeks in the year you must pay for - (this is often more than the number of weeks you will be living there).
